Aim
Help us fund a new artificial practice strip at Buckhurst Hill CC and support ongoing fundraising to keep our club thriving.
Who are we?
Founded in 1864, our club is registered with Club Mark and led by our Chairman, Q Khan MBE. We have a rich history and an exciting future ahead. As a diverse and inclusive club, we welcome members from different backgrounds and varying abilities.
Buckhurst Hill CC is one of the founder members of the Hamro Foundation Essex League with 4 out of or 6 representing the league and our first XI in the premier league.
We now have six adult teams, including a newly formed women’s team. Four teams play in the Hamro League, and a fifth team was recently created to support juniors transitioning into adult cricket. Our membership is growing each year, with around 100 adult members.
Our junior section is flourishing with 220 members across multiple teams in age groups from U9 to U15. We proudly host a number of girls' teams, with around 76 female junior members, and several of our male and female juniors represent Essex/District at county level.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club has a thriving junior and senior section, with hundreds of players enjoying cricket each week. To keep growing and provide the best facilities for our members, we urgently need to install a new artificial practice strip. This will give our players a safe, reliable surface to train on, whatever the weather, and ensure that more children and adults can develop their skills.
But this project is just the start. Like many community clubs, we rely on volunteers and fundraising to cover running costs, maintain facilities, and invest in future projects. Your support will not only help us build the new practice strip, but also secure the long-term future of the club so that cricket can continue to thrive in Buckhurst Hill for generations to come.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The funds we raise will go directly towards improving our training and playing facilities:
New Artificial Practice Strip – to be installed on the edge of the existing square. This will provide a reliable surface for training, even after rainfall, and give our players more opportunities to practise.
Mobile Net – to complement the new strip, allowing us to create a flexible training area that can be used by juniors and adults alike.
These improvements will mean that cricket can continue even when the outfield is too wet, ensuring that training sessions, junior development, and adult softball matches can go ahead without disruption. By investing in these facilities, we’ll be giving our players more chances to play, learn, and enjoy cricket all season long.
Community impact
Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club is more than just a sports team – it’s a community hub. We provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where children, young people, and adults can stay active, make friends, and develop confidence through cricket.
The new practice strip and mobile net will:
Give more children the chance to play – especially juniors, who are the future of our club.
Ensure training continues in all conditions, reducing cancellations and keeping players engaged.
Support adult softball cricket – offering accessible opportunities for new and returning players.
Strengthen community ties by encouraging more families to get involved in volunteering and social activities.
Promote health and wellbeing through regular exercise and team sport in a friendly environment.
