We are Moortown RUFC and were founded in 1934! We run rugby teams for Mini-Junior Players, U18's and seniors. We also run non-contact rugby for people wanting to keep fit and meet new people. We are a friendly club who welcome everyone and anyone into our rugby family whether you want to play, watch or simply socialise.
As flooding took hold the pitches have become un safe for our little ones to enjoy their Rugby, running around with friends and keeping active. We are crowdfunding to enable us to afford the much needed repairs and to safeguard the future of the pitches for generations to come.
We need to install appropriate drainage and repair the playing surface. We will do this by installing secondary drainage to the pitches called "sand banding" as well as re-seeding and cultivating the surface to allow new grass to grow effectively.
Moortown RUFC is right in the heart of the community. We have given children, young teenagers and adults a social and activity space for decades. Since COVID and the cost of living crisis the Rugby Club has struggled to continue offering the facilities to the local community and encourage more people to come along, join in and stay active. If we are successful in our plight we will be able to really push our facility, opening it up more regularly not just to the local community but to local schools and groups that need a space to help people come together.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
This project offers rewards in return for your donation. Please select a reward below.
