To cover the costs of staging an exhibition in two hospitals for this amazingly emotionally moving project.
After developing a near death catastrophic intestinal failure two years ago Pippa has embarked on a miraculous journey of recovery. Spending eight months in hospital and 16 months with a. stoma and IV nutrition she has recently returned to hospital to proceed with a major operation which means she can eat and absorb nutrients with much less intervention than before.
During her long stay in Bath and Bristol hospitals, she began to regain enough strength to paint from her bed. Her inspiration being the people who cared for her that she got to know during her time on the wards. These she gifted to the subjects and was blown away by everyone’s positive and emotional reactions.
These portraits that include nurses, surgeons, consultants, cooks, cleaners and carers which now form a profound and moving snapshot of the diverse range of people involved in the care on one person over two years of care. Each portrait tells a story of the care, love and knowledge given to Pippa on her medical journey, whilst recognising their contribution to her health.
They are full of joy and love individually, whilst collectively they create a complex, powerful almost overwhelming emotional response from those who see them. A celebration of humanity in its purest form.
Pippa has been given the opportunity to exhibit these portraits in public corridors in both hospitals she has attended. There are at present at least 50 to date and more to come.
Lack of funding.
Despite an incredibly strong application to the Arts Council she has not been able to secure any funding to pay for the materials and exhibiting costs needed to stage this exhibition. So we are hoping to raise money here to cover the cost of scanning, mounting, framing and hanging this work. Sadly due to Pips condition she has not been able to work over the past two years so its been proving difficult to self fund this project.
There are many of us who feel Pippa is an ethereal (with huge strength), kind, hugely talented and captivating person and would really like to find a way to show how much we want to support her. Now here is a way to do that!! Give a tiny amount or a massive amount, do what you can. Don't feel like you must, no-one is watching who does and we all know for sure that you love her whatever!
Thanks for reading xx
