For more than 10 years, we’ve been bringing people together in People’s Park, Grimsby, through Picnic in the Park and our Wonderful World event.

They’ve become a much-loved part of summer in Grimsby – afternoons where families bring a picnic, children play and explore, friends meet up, people enjoy brilliant live music and activities, and our beautiful park comes alive.

And most importantly, they’re completely free.

“Been coming for years – always encourage others to attend such great, free, family-centred events.”

Some of the best feedback we receive is simply that people can’t believe something of this quality is still available for free.

We’re really proud of that. But free for our audiences doesn’t mean free to put on.

Why we need your help

Every year, The Culture House fundraises to make Picnic in the Park happen. There isn’t one big pot of money that pays for everything – we jigsaw the funding together, securing grants, sponsorship from brilliant local organisations and businesses, and support from people who believe in what these events bring to our community.

There are lots of costs people might never see. The toilet hire alone costs us more than £2,000. Then there are artists and musicians, sound equipment, activities, event infrastructure, licences, insurance, accessibility provision, staffing and all the practical things needed to create a safe, welcoming event.

That’s why, for 2027, we’re asking our community to be part of making it happen too.

Your donation will help us:

• Keep Picnic in the Park free so that cost is never a barrier to joining in.
• Bring brilliant live music to Grimsby, from local talent to visiting bands and musicians.
• Pay artists and performers fairly while giving local creatives opportunities to share their work.
• Create fun nature and wildlife activities that encourage children and families to explore and enjoy the natural world.
• Make our events accessible and inclusive, with additional provision to help more people feel comfortable and able to take part.
• Create a welcoming place to connect, helping tackle isolation, build friendships and strengthen our community.

And sometimes, the impact goes much further than we could ever plan for.

That’s why these events matter.

They aren’t just a few afternoons of entertainment. They’re about creating a place where people can come together, feel part of something and make memories – regardless of what they can afford.
