Pick A Card - A Short Psychological Drama

We would like to invite you to join us in the journey of making Pick A Card a reality, our final year production for university.

We are about to embark on our third and final year at Birmingham City University studying a BSc in Film Production Technology. Pick A Card is a passion project for all of us and you can play a fundamental role in ensuring the success of the film.

Plot Synopsis for Pick A Card: A psychological drama involving magician Apollo who seeks counsellor Dr Franklin’s help after his colleague’s death which is making Apollo hear voices when he performs. Apollo explains to Mr Franklin how his career has taken a turn for the worst and how he feels he is declining as a performer. Will Apollo be able to open up and truthfully reveal what he is experiencing?

Main Themes: Mental Health, Honesty, Self-Belief, Inner Strength and Legacy.

Importance of the Film: Pick A Card’s sentiment is to say to people it is okay not to be okay and this is constantly reinforced through Apollo’s downward spiral as a performer. There is nothing wrong with people getting help if something is troubling them no matter what the circumstance is.
