PHOTOFUSION (Educational Trust)

RCN 1007491, London

We are London's largest photography resource centre and charity, based in the heart of Brixton; one of South London’s most diverse and vibrant boroughs. See the video below of our Creators' Studio; our outreach and engagement programme that we seek year-round support for:

Help Fund the Next Generation of Photographers

Breaking into the creative industries can be difficult for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. While the UK's creative sector contributes over £111 billion annually and is growing rapidly, opportunities remain unevenly distributed.

Only 4% of the photography workforce comes from Global Majority backgrounds.

Photofusion's Creators' Studio is a free to access, rolling programme for young people aged 16–25, providing the skills, confidence, and connections needed to build a career in photography and the creative industries.

What We Provide:

  • Professional photography and post-production training
  • Portfolio development and career guidance
  • Business skills, including budgeting, invoicing, and contracts
  • Work placements, mentorship, and paid opportunities
  • Access to professional facilities and a supportive creative community

Proven Impact:

Our alumni have gone on to work with brands including Converse, Nike, the BBC, and Vogue. Over the past four years:

  • 93% of participants progressed into employment or higher education
  • 100% reported improvements in skills such as communication, teamwork, and timekeeping
  • 100% said Photofusion provides a safe and supportive environment for creative expression

Why We Need Your Support:

Rising costs, funding cuts, and increasing competition for grants threaten the future of our outreach programmes. For many participants, Creators' Studio is more than a course; it is a turning point that helps them discover their creative voice, build confidence, and establish a professional future.

By supporting Photofusion, you are also helping us deliver the mission of The Andrew Winning Fund, created in memory of renowned photojournalist Andrew Winning. Through this partnership, emerging photographers gain access to professional cameras, lenses, training, and career opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. Together, with Andrew's family, we are removing barriers to entry, supporting diverse new voices in photography, and ensuring that Andrew's passion for storytelling continues to inspire the photographers of tomorrow.

How You Can Help:

  • Donate today  – every contribution makes a difference
  • Become a monthly supporter – help sustain our work long-term
  • Partner with us – sponsor a participant or project

Participant Voices:

"Photofusion's Creators' Studio gave me the confidence, motivation and self-belief that were crucial to becoming a photographer. Photofusion makes education, studio space and community accessible for everyone."

"Without Photofusion, my practice would have ended due to the lack of affordable equipment available in London and the lack of support for my cultural identity."

"The programme changed the trajectory of my career. It helped me learn how to work professionally, curate my own exhibition, and discover my passion for a future in the arts."

The Small Print
This crowdfunder is being held in aid of Photofusion Educational Trust (Charity No. 1007491) and all funds raised will support the organisation's charitable activities.

Photofusion is so great, as a resource for professionals and a place for people to learn. It's been so good to get back to doing proper b&w printing recently. I hope monthly support will help you plan for the future too.
