Phantoms Women Ice Hockey Team 50km Run

Aim

Phantoms Women are planning to run 50 kilometers during September to raise funds for our games this season!

We are an all-women's ice hockey team who train in Peterborough. In two short years we have gone from an enthusiastic novice team at the bottom of the women's national ice hockey league division 2 to finishing 2nd in the league and playing for promotion at the WNIHL Playoff weekend.

This achievement is thanks to our superb coaching team and the tremendous commitment and effort from the women who play.

In Britain ice hockey is a niche sport, and it doesn't attract the attention and following of some mainstream team sports. But the fan base and community are more passionate and dedicated than we have encountered in any other sport.

Ice hockey is a fantastically close-knit sport. We travel an hour or more just to get to the rink for training; we travel hours and miles to play games from Gosport to Cardiff; we train late at night, losing sleep and time at home, to improve at our game, to be there for our team and to share our love of this sport. It is a family, and a global community of likeminded friends. We would dearly love to see this opportunity open up to more young women, who will derive so much confidence, well-being and purpose from being part of this community. And the only way to grow this sport for our young women is with the help of sponsors like you. This is an opportunity to put Peterborough on the hockey map of the UK and build the name of British women’s sport.

With our 2023/24 season fast approaching we wanted to improve our fitness as a team and help with our clubs' finances.

We are planning to run 50 kilometers during September and would love you to join us.
