Aim

To fund Creative Workshops in our Amazing Magical Arts hub for adults in term time and for families in the school holidays.

Who are we?

  • Phantasmagoria is an Arts Hub with a difference in the centre of Ashton under Lyne.
  • You enter Phantasmagoria through our Magical Travel Emporium which sells goods and gifts to spark Amazing Adventures of the Imagination. Phantasmagoria blends imagination, creativity, history and story telling into it’s own magical world where minds of all ages can flourish.
  • Where will you travel in our time machine? How far dare you go in our intergalactic balloon piloted by our daring aeronaut Julius Verme the rat? Why not lie in our enchanted bath and drift off to fairyland?
  • Then enter the magic portal into our Maparium workshop and try some creative crafting and awesome art.
  • We even have our own currency – Atlantian Doubloons (we also except sterling exchange rate is displayed).
  • Run by professional artists Phantasmagoria works with adults, children and families to produce high quality art with a purpose.
  • For anyone struggling with anxiety, social isolation, the cost of living or in need of more creativity in their lives Phanta is a safe warm place to come and get involved and stretch their imagination

Community impact

  • The aim of this project is to run creative workshops in a warm, safe and inspiring space that is easily accessible to the local community.
  • Phantasmagoria is a place where people can come together to be warm and socialise with a purpose, where they will not have any sense of stigma in accessing it as a resource whilst they may be struggling with the cost of living and heating their own homes.
  • In workshops we will offer a different activity each week making products to sell in Phantasmagoria’s Magical Travel Emporium or creating public art.
  • At our adult workshops they will also get a warm, satisfying locally produced meal in a social environment - cheese and onion pie tends to be most popular all round but there is always a vegan option .
  • The project will be particularly aimed at the vulnerable adults that we work with through social prescribing and other community networks and for families struggling with the cost of living and finding free fun imaginative things to do in the school holidays.
  • Phantasmagoria works with a wide range of local community members of all ages. Being located in Ashton means that we are situated at the heart of the largest minority ethnic community in Tameside and we have established good strong partnerships and proposals with organisations who work directly with ethnic minority communities, refugees and asylum seekers as well as those experiencing social isolation, anxiety and stress.
  • We are well placed to create a warm hub for communities to access a safe, friendly and productive environment during the winter months

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our workshops are popular and a real lifeline to our participants. We've been running workshops where we provide a hot meal at lunch time and they are the most popular yet. We know the cost of living crisis is having a big impact on our participants and Phanta is struggling too as grants are getting harder to come by but we don't want to stop so we are really hoping we can get some help from all you out there!.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We will deliver weekly workshops between 10am and 3.30pm. Adult workshops will cater for between 10 and 15 participants and include a hot meal. Family workshops will be drop in sessions and children will make something wonderful to take home. The funds raised will cover

  • Planning and preparation
  • Delivery of high-quality art and craft sessions by 2 professional artists
  • All craft materials
  • Refreshments all day (including a hot meal delivered from a local caterer at adult session)
  • Overheads for the space including heating and lighting
