Girls Flow Free provides menstrual health education and menstrual products to underprivileged girls living in deprived communities in Ghana. Even before COVID-19, girls faced daily challenges of accessing safe menstrual products to manage their periods in dignity.

CHALLENGES GIRLS ARE FACING NOW

COVID-19 has deepened the plight of these girls as parents are struggling to provide for their families with very limited resources and have no choice than to prioritise food over menstrual pads in the face of job losses and shortage of income. As a result, there is a greater challenge of accessing menstrual products, underwear, and soap.

 WHAT HAPPENS IF WE DON'T HELP?

If we do not help, there is a greater increase in the risk of infection from using rags and unsafe materials to absorb menstrual blood, an impact on their mental wellbeing, transactional sex for pads which also exposes girls STI's unwanted pregnancies and total school drop out.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT...

Every little you give will support our work to provide girls with menstrual products to avoid missing school whilst on their periods, save them from early marriages and give them the knowledge to make informed decisions on their reproductive health especially for final year girls who are returning to school to write their final exams.
