Aim

Emergency repairs to seal the roof, which is currently leaking straight into the house.

It started with a drip, coming through the ceiling when it rained and peeling off the lining paper.

The dripping started in the week before I had to travel to go to a funeral, where I was both one of the mourners closest to the deceased, and was acting as a carer and assistant to her son, so I was in no position to shop around for roofers, and I just took the first one I found. They charged me £3,500, broke through the ceilings indoors, made a mess of my garden, and most importantly, didn't repair either of the two leaks that they had been contracted to do.

So yesterday, I called out a second set of roofers, who went up and looked - The first ones had done a terrible job, had just sort of thrown up the new felt without stretching it or overlapping it with the old felt,  didn't properly mate the felt up with the edge of the roofline or the gutters, put up new tiles which were the wrong size and didn't interlock properly with the old ones, used the wrong type of batons, and just generally have made matters worse.

And, they left a load of beer bottles and a half-eaten sandwich under the tiles but above the felt.

The original roofers now aren't contactable at all - Even though when they were hassling me for money, they were ringing me every day including the weekend.

Unsurprisingly, I am trying to go through CAB and Trading Standards to get my money back, but It's not likely that I'll get it, so I'm trying to not completely despair over it.

But, long story short, I now need to pay another set of roofers to make good their bad work, and I need to do it quickly because there is water coming in through the roof, and my partner can't go back to work until it's done.

The second set of roofers seem much more trustworthy, and have quoted me £9650 to make good and replace all the felt - Which will fix the original problem on both sides, and undo all the problems that the bad roofers have caused.

There's no reason why anyone *should* donate to this, over any other thing, I'm just asking in hope that someone will. Charitable work doesn't pay well, and my role as a carer is unpaid, so it's not like I've got any savings, and I don't have a credit card, so I am reduced to asking my friends.
