Shine your light on East Greenwich’s elderly community by supporting the People’s Parlour.

by Emergency Exit Arts in Greenwich

Can you think of anything you love more than a cup of tea and a chat with someone you love?

Did you know that more than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, and more than a million older people say they go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member?

We don’t want this to happen in our community, which is why East Greenwich Residents Association and Emergency Exit Arts have joined forces to create the People’s Parlour:

The People's Parlour provides creative workshops, chats and cups of tea to help East Greenwich’s older residents feel less alone. We use creative activities to help make East Greenwich a better place to live.

In the the first month of running this project we’ve helped over  80 local older people feel more connected: to each other, to their creative selves and to the wider community of East Greenwich.

I live on my own. Without this I am stuck on my own. This is very important. I hope we can continue in the future” MF. aged 82 People’s Parlour Participant and local resident

The events are so popular that we can’t keep up... and this is where you come in:

You Can Shine Your Light...Donate to support this transformative community initiative to ensure the longevity of this invaluable project.

Our ambition is to make these weekly workshops continue for at least the next 12 months. We also hope to take  these activities into the community, collaborating with other senior care centres and schools.

In addition as a mid-Winter celebration, the People's Parlour will host a spectacular lantern procession on Thursday 14 December for you, your family and the people around you on the streets of East Greenwich so we can all celebrate together.

We will be holding free lantern making workshops in schools and community spaces in advance of the day, before coming together in a spectacular procession around East Greenwich.

To make all of this happen we need your support, So please #ShineALight on our local  community by contributing towards this campaign with a generous donation.
