People of the Streets - Tackling homelessness across the UK with a unique model by distributing essential items to shelters across the UK.

 New stretch target

- More Vocational and Skills-based courses

Working with our partners to develop more skills based sessions and vital workshops needed to get off the streets.

-  The Photo Project

We will distribute disposable cameras to homeless people and provide a training course on photography skills. We will ask them to take pictures of “their city”. After 30 days we will select the best photos and hold an exhibition, where the individuals can share their stories. All profits will be re-invested into courses and packs.

- Getting off the streets pack - A range of utilities to smoothen the transition off the streets.

A new pack that helps people stand on their feet, once they have moved into a house and off the streets, this will include basic utilities such as plates, pans, basic bedding, cutlery and mug.

People of The Streets is an online store where people can gift essential items to the homeless across the UK.

Homelessness is one of the greatest crises in our country and the problem is getting worse.

There are over a quarter of a million people who have nowhere to sleep tonight and an additional eight million people are only one payday away from joining them on the streets. We are an affluent nation but there are still cracks in our society. We help those who have fallen through them.

One of the problems the homeless face is our attitude towards them. Many of us want to do the right thing, but it's not always clear what that is.

We often shy away from giving money to people on the streets, for fear of encouraging begging or because we worry about where that money will go.

Due to these stigmas and the way they are often treated by society, homeless people often list self respect as one of the hardest trials they face everyday. Not surprising when you consider that one in ten have been urinated on by a member of the public and then they have to face people like the young Cambridge University student, who recently made the front pages by being filmed setting fire to a twenty pound note in front of a homeless person.

We thought long and hard about the problem and developed a unique solution.

People of the Streets is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to helping fight the corner of the UK's homeless community.

Our first phase involves creating a transparent online store where the public can purchase everyday essentials such as toiletries, backpacks and warm clothes for people who need them most.

After the products have been purchased, we will ship them to one of our partners who will distribute them to those most vulnerable in society.

All revenue will go back into our organisation, enabling us to scale up our project and help even more people on the streets.

We are launching in Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Brighton, Bristol and London. These are the cities we have identified as having the most significant increase in homelessness over the last few years and therefore seemed like a natural place to start. We eventually intend to scale the business further across the country.

The online store is only the beginning. With the money we raise, we are going to harness the talents of People of the Streets.  We will run, in collaboration with our partners, soft and vocational skills workshops to help get people in need back into employment, but also into jobs they want.

Our goal is to help get people off the streets and to do that we'll need your help.

We are on Crowdfunder to raise money and awareness of our project and we've come up with some awesome rewards and incentives to help you part with your cash.

Thanks for reading and if you can't donate... then please share our message.
