Penrith Events

Aim

Fundraising for future events in Penrith

Like so many others, we were incredibly disappointed to hear that The Winter Droving will no longer be taking place in Penrith this year.

For many of us, the event has become a much-loved part of the town's calendar. It brings people together, provides a welcome boost to local businesses, and creates a fantastic atmosphere in our town.

Rather than simply letting the day pass, a group of local businesses and community members, facilitated by Penrith Business Improvement District, have come together to see what we can do to create something positive for Penrith on the same date.

We want to be honest about expectations. With only a month to plan, and without the time needed for permissions, road closures and the extensive organisation required for a large-scale event, we cannot recreate The Winter Droving. What we can do is bring people together, support local businesses and create a positive atmosphere in the town centre.

At this stage, we don't yet have a final plan. What happens on the day will depend on what can be organised within the limited time available and the level of support we receive from the community. We know there is a huge amount of goodwill, and local businesses are already discussing ways they can get involved.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us make the most of the opportunity. Your contribution will help us support whatever activities and attractions we are able to organise and encourage people to come into town and support local businesses.

Importantly, if we raise more money than can reasonably be spent this year, all remaining funds will be ringfenced for future community events in Penrith. This could include supporting the Sparkle event in November, helping to develop future town-centre events, and contributing towards an exciting programme of community activities in 2027 and beyond.

This is about more than one day. It's about showing what a community can achieve when people come together. It's about keeping momentum, supporting local businesses and ensuring Penrith continues to have events that bring people into the town and give us all something to celebrate.

If you'd like to help keep the spirit of Penrith alive, please consider making a donation and sharing this page with friends, family and anyone who cares about our town.

Together, we can turn disappointment into something positive.

Thank you for your support.
