We're planting 500 trees to create Koos Govenek (Hope Wood) in St Ives. Support the project by sponsoring a tree. Or help us plant them.
End of November we're planning to plant a new woodland of 500 trees. This is above St Ives Community Orchard, on the lower slopes of Penbeagle Hill and we will call this future woodland Koos Govenek - Hope Wood in Cornish.
We have created a new path leading to this site for the public to enjoy. The vision for the site is to enhance biodiversity by creating Woodland with wildflower glades (where there is largely bracken now) and to tackle climate change by growing more trees.
We are getting most of our trees free from E-forest but are also buying in larger trees for which we need funds. This will establish the Woodland more quickly.
Tree planting will be Saturday Nov 30th 11am (the Woodland Trust Big Climate Fightback tree planting day) and Sunday 1st Dec, same time. Meet at the shed in the orchard at 11am. #EveryTreeCounts
Anyone can plant a tree but you can also Sponsor a Tree or give a Tree as a gift to somebody, with a gift certificate. See the rewards we offer. Your name can go onto an aluminium tag on the tree as well as onto a Tree Planting Certificate.
We are planting native trees - oak, hazel, holly, alder, elder, hawthorn, downy birch as well as dog rose, field rose and broom.
