The Wild Geese team consisting of former British Soldiers will carry the Mark Wright GC log over the Pen‑y‑Fan selection route.
We are the Wild Geese, a group of infantry veterans united by service and the belief that legacy should ever fade.
Bonded by our subdued cap badges on the 16th May 2026 we are taking on a demanding log carry across the iconic Pen‑y‑Fan selection route in honour of Mark Wright GC- a courageous soldier whose bravery and sacrifice continues to inspire all who serve.

Wild Geese Team Member- Rico's Story
Rico is a former 3 PARA and SFSG soldier whose life changed dramatically after being medically discharged from the Army following a diagnosis of a rare malignant brain tumour- spindle cell sarcoma. In an extraordinary case, the tumour had eroded through his cranium, requiring major surgery and a fitted plate.
Before surgery, Rico endured four months of aggressive chemotherapy in an effort to reduce and control the cancer. He then underwent complex brain surgery followed by a long and debilitating recovery. When the tumour returned during remission, the risks were even greater due to its location near critical veins. Despite the danger, his surgeon operated again after being clear about the risks involved, leading to another hard-fought recovery and ten weeks of radiotherapy.
Four years on, Rico is still standing and still fighting.
Determined to reclaim the man he once was, he rebuilt his strength and muscle piece by piece. The physical battle was immense, but the fight for mental clarity proved even tougher. Through brain fog and setbacks, he continues to push forward, driven by the mindset forged in the Regiment- a mindset he believes ultimately saved his life.
Now taking on the Log race over Pen y Fan, Rico’s mission is bigger than himself. He wants to show others that there is light at the end of the tunnel if you refuse to give up.
