Peggy's Heart Surgery

Raising funds to help pay for the best possible surgery on Peggy's big heart.
After three heart scans, Little Peggy has now been diagnosed with PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). This is also causing her pulmonary stenosis as well as her diagnosed enlarged heart. Without surgery, our vet thinks she has about 3-6 months before her heart fails.
The best chance we have for Peggy to make a full recovery and live a long and happy life is to place an Amplatzer Canine Ductal Occulder (ACDO) into the ductus via a catheter in the femoral artery - that sounds pretty scary, as is the chance of a cardiac arrest under anaesthesia or the risk of a fatal issue with the femoral artery, but the alternative of doing nothing is scarier.
Due to Peggy having a diagnosed heart murmur from seven weeks old, our insurance does not include any cover relating to the heart. As such, we are asking friends of Peggy to help us cover some of the costs of taking her to the Liverpool Vet School for this potentially life saving surgery. All funds raised will go directly to covering vet bills, and all support will help keep me and Ben and Peggy (and Peggy's Mum, Baker) feeling as optimistic as possible during this difficult time.
Peggy has the best life - by looking at her, you'd have no idea what was going on inside her - and we want that to continue. She has put up with so much shaving and prodding and scanning and time at the vets. She doesn't understand why. It breaks our heart that her heart is broken. We love sharing her antics (and Baker's) on Instagram at @bakerandpeggy. We now know that Peggy physically has a big heart but we always knew she had a big westie heart in there as she gives so much love and joy to so many.
If the surgery is unsuccessful, we will know we've done everything we can. The alternative is not an alternative. Fingers and paws are crossed.
