Aim
Help Ukrainian children staying in local hotels have fun ways to spend their winter!
One night 2 sisters were chatting to their mum about what their Ukrainian friends that live in the hotels did in the evenings and weekends. They thought that maybe they don't have lots of money to spend on clubs and activities, or cars to get to and from the hotel in Cardrona, and this got them talking .... about how much they love all their clubs and classes, and wouldn't it be nice if they could pay for the Ukrainian children to go too. They decided to ask some of their family if, instead of Christmas presents, they could get money for clubs and classes for the Ukrainian children. The more people they told, the more people wanted to donate, and from this humble tea-time conversation, Peebles Ukraine Together was born!
We are a small team of 4 - 2 people from Peebles and 2 from Ukraine who stay in the hotels, working together to make this happen.
The money we fundraise will pay for hall hire, club coaches and activity leaders and transport to and from the hotels for the children and their families living in Cardrona and Peebles.
We plan to have some events on over the holidays to build the Peebles Ukrainian community and give the children some things to do over the festive time, and then to run evening and weekend clubs during next school term.
