About Pearls for the girls

'Pearls for the girls' is a coffee-table style book, with 52 bible-based thoughts and observations about all sorts of topics and they are short, readable, and relevant for every day living.

It is suitable for women of all ages, and our hope is that in sharing these stories and illustrations we will inspire and encourage you.

This book is a collaboration that brings together two creative women in one project, and we want you to be part of the journey. 

It came about when Mel invited Sarah to speak at her church fellowship and afterwards they got chatting about what they loved to do- Sarah speaking and writing truth and Mel illustrating and sketching life. 

What started out as a dream soon became a reality as they worked together with Sarah's stories and Mel's illustrated lettering and images and Pearls for the Girls was born.  

Who are the creators behind Pearls for the Girls?

Pearls for the Girls is written by Sarah Chaplin and illustrated by Melanie Chadwick.

Sarah is a wife, mother, speaker, leader, author, and a hospital chaplain. Born in Wales, now living in Porthleven, Cornwall,  Sarah is married to Glen and they have four children and a son-in-law.

Sarah regularly speaks and tells her story at events and conferences around the UK, and further afield, and loves to communicate the truth of God’s word in an inspirational, relevant and practical way.  

It is her life’s mission to communicate truth wherever she goes. In recent times, she has established ‘Truth Told’ - a digital presence, with a website www.truthtold.org.uk and an inspiring Facebook page with video blogs. 

She also published ‘Truth Told in Covid Times’ in 2020, a small, uplifting and encouraging book of hope.

Mel is a full-time freelance illustrator, designer and self-confessed sketch-oholic. She loves exploring and drawing and spending time outside in nature and by the sea. 

She graduated with a degree in Fine Art over 20 years ago and has worked on a variety of creative projects and commissions with clients based in the UK, USA and further afield. 

Her illustration work has been published on greeting cards, calendars, gift wrap as well as in recipe books and magazines.    

She lives on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall with her husband Tony, who leads a small Christian fellowship, and enjoys running art workshops and sketch walks around the area. See more of her work at: www.melaniechadwick.com

What will the money we raise be used for?

We are asking if you can support us in our printing costs, and in return you will be rewarded with your own copy of the book and other exciting options as we move forward to publication.

The book is all ready to go- the illustrations have been completed, the copy edited, proofread and formatted; we even have an IBSN number! We have sourced a printer and have received a quote for the costs of printing. 

Our target is £2500 and will pay for the printing of the book. 120 pages, paperback with Matt laminate cover and UV spots.

We aim to print 1000 copies with the money raised and should we reach our stretch target we will be able to print 2000.

£15 - a signed copy of Pearls for the Girls, illustrated bookmark and a pack of illustrated Art cards featuring 10 of the illustrated verses from the book

£25 - two signed copies of Pearls for the Girls, illustrated bookmarks and a copy of Sarah's Truth Told in Covid times

£125 - 15 copies of Pearls for the Girls - a great way to purchase for your ladies group at discount

£300 -  an evening event at a location of your choice in Cornwall - 'An evening with Sarah & Mel' - an informal, inspiring, interview style evening with inspirational thoughts from the book, plus music and conversation and signed copies of the book for sale.

When will I receive my rewards?

We estimate that it will take no more than three months after reaching our funding goal to have Pearls for the Girls printed and packaged up, along with your rewards. If there are any delays, we will keep in touch! 

When will Pearls for the Girls be on sale to the general public?

The book will go on sale once we have sent out all the rewards to those who have pledged via this Crowdfunding campaign. 

Where will the book be available to buy from?

Initially the book will be available from the Truth Told website

How much will the book cost?

The paperback book will cost £10 plus £3.25 postage. If you pledge today you'll get it for £10 total.
