Manchester Village Spartans RUFC's Crowdfunder, raising funds to attend the "World Cup" of inclusive rugby.
On Monday 22nd June, I’ll be taking on the Welsh 3000s Challenge — hiking all 15 peaks over 3,000ft in Wales — in a thong, because apparently I make excellent life choices.
I’m raising money for my rugby club, Manchester Village Spartans, to help us get to the Bingham Cup in Brisbane. The Spartans are an inclusive rugby club and a brilliant community that means a lot to me, so I wanted to do something bold, ridiculous, and hopefully memorable to support the team.
The Bingham Cup is the world championship of inclusive rugby, named in memory of Mark Bingham, a gay rugby player who died on United Flight 93 during the 9/11 attacks. It's a biennial tournament and the largest amateur tournament of it's kind in the world, that celebrates diversity and inclusion within Rugby, bringing together gay and inclusive rugby teams from across the globe. The tournament also promotes acceptance and breaks down stereotypes about LGBTQIA+ individuals. Manchester Village Spartans Rugby Union FC are fundraising to travel to the tournament being held in Brisbane in August 2026. We work hard to offer subsidy to our players as part of our ethos of making the sport as inclusive as possible. We will be running many fundraisers, events, and project to help us achieve our ultimate goal of taking as many players, supporters, and coaches as possible, to represent England, the North West, and Manchester on the global stage of Rugby.
Any donation, big or small, would mean the world and help get us one step closer to competing on the international stage.
Please donate if you can — and wish me luck!
