On 21 September, Peace One Day will transform Peace Day into the World’s Largest Online Broadcast for Peace, streaming live globally.
Filmmaker Jeremy Gilley founded Peace One Day in 1999 to establish an annual Peace Day with a fixed calendar date and document the process. In 2001 Peace One Day’s efforts were rewarded when the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace, fixed in the calendar as 21 September – Peace Day. Peace One Day’s overarching objective is to ensure that people are aware of the day and engage all sectors of society in the day’s peaceful observance and celebration.
In 2007, Jeremy Gilley and Jude Law travelled to Afghanistan to spearhead an initiative that has resulted in the vaccination of 4.5 million children against polio following Peace Day agreements by all parties in the region including the Taliban.
Peace One Day Ambassador Dave Stewart and Founder Jeremy Gilley MBE, with the support of the Surfdog team, will produce an experience that in 2025, will create the greatest movement of the word ‘Peace’ in 24 hours. It will include international artists, thought leaders from different sectors of society, and activities from around the world, to highlight this global stand for peace. It's an experience created to entertain, inform, inspire and engage people towards impact that is measurable.
The money raised will be used to cover pre-production costs of the show.
