Who are we?

Reformed in 1949 Banbury Cricket Club has developed in recent years into the leading club side in Oxfordshire, winning the inaugural Home Counties Premier League in 2000.

The club runs several sides of varying age groups and abilities with four Saturday sides. The First XI play in the ECB Home Counties Premier League, the highest standard of club cricket. The Second, Third and Fourth XI play in the Cherwell League competing against other club sides in the county! The club also manages a Social Sunday & Midweek side, as well as a Competitive Sunday XI which competes in the ECB National Club Championship. Banbury also run a fantastic Women & Girls section, with a team in the ECB Women's Home Counties Premier League and compete in Indoor & Softball competitions.

Banbury Cricket Club also has a comprehensive youth set up coached by qualified coaches offering cricket at under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 levels; as well as the brilliant ECB All Stars initiative.

The cricket club is used as a local hub for the community, playing host to a variety of groups, charities, business and families. This includes rotary groups, slimming world, business breakfasts, Sunday carveries, council functions and much more.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The pavilion at Banbury Cricket Club is approaching its 30th year in 2026, and whilst many of its features have stood the test of time, it is clear that the existing balcony area is no longer fit for purpose – both in style and accessibility. To celebrate 30 years at White Post Road, we want to modernise our showpiece facility at the ground.

The pavilion serves thousands of people every year, but the existing set up only allows for a handful of people on the balcony at one time. With the numerous new housing developments in stone's throw of the ground (with no real community facilities) we are looking to enhance our facilities, to encourage local residents to attend the 'go to' social venue in the area. Our current facilities are now becoming increasingly worn and tired, and are not befitting of a high class venue, for which we aspire to maintain.

The club is fortunate to benefit from the generosity of its volunteers, which grow year on year, and we are determined to continue to see the club flourish, with such heart and enthusiasm at its very core.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The total project is c.£100k+

We plan to extend the balcony to run the length of the building, with full length windows and doors, maximising light in the function room and creating incredible views of the cricket looking over to the Sor Brook. We will also build a first level scorebox, relocating from the downstairs room which no longer fits the club's growing needs.

We have been very fortunate to receive a handful of local grants, and utilise some club funds, but would welcome your support in helping get over the line, ready for the 2026 season!

All generous donors will be recognised on a plaque in the clubhouse, upon project completion.
