Aim

Although our film is a work of fiction, the problem of street dogs in India is real. We want to fund sterilising as many dogs as we can!

We are in pre-production for a sweet, coming of age feature film set in London, and on the beach in Maharashtra India. When a 15 year old Anglo-Indian teenager is orphaned, Social Services track down his only living relative: His estranged grandmother, an aging British hippie who runs a guesthouse on the beach in India. The two relatives try to make the best of a bad job. The boy befriends a young Indian girl who wants to be a vet.  She inspires the boy to join her caring for the stray dogs who live on the beach, foraging for scraps after the humans have left. Their friendship helps the boy make sense of his life, and her compassion for the dogs rubs off on him. We see him grow into a lovely young man. Meanwhile the grandmother, who loves 70s Music, especially Joni Mitchell, learns to accept the boy.

It certainly wasn’t the retirement she hoped for, but over time, the old woman and the teenager form a bond of love and trust. But no one said it was going to be easy!

With a talented cast of Britsh, Indian and American actors, Paved Paradise will make you cry a little, laugh a lot, and sing a long to an amazing original soundtrack.

We want to raise funds to help with this production. Filming on a budget in U.K. and India doesn’t come cheap. But we are getting a lot of interest and investment. But we need more. AND my aim is to help the plight of the street dogs. They may not have a cosy home or regular meals, but they share the same loyal traits of our dogs. They love to be around people. They thrive on affection. They mean no harm. But their numbers need to be controlled. I would love to be able to pay for as many dogs as possible to be sterilised. So males don’t go around impregnating all the females, and those poor females don’t spend their entire lives either pregnant or lactating, litter after litter.

Our plan of action: We can only do this if the film is made. And with the generosity of the world’s animal lovers, we can achieve our goals:

For every £100 raised on this platform we guarantee to pay for a stray dog to be sterilised: And of the dogs we are able to pay for - 50% will be males, 50% females. The more we raise, the more we sterilise.

We have selected a number of veterinary surgeries and animal rescue centres within a 100 mile radius of our filming location. We shall oversea all professionals, their premises, their treatment plans, and shall make regular visit and checks. We shall have local, trusted personnel to oversea the procedures  and handle paperwork, payments and aftercare for our dogs. I love dogs too much to let this NOT work!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know there are enough people out there who feel the same as me. With your help we can really make a difference, in our small way, to help hundreds of dogs.

A recent study claimed that a female street dog can have two litters a year, on average 8 puppies per litter, every year for her lifetime. That could amount to hundreds of puppies from one mother. It’s just not fair! We can help!

Thank you so much!
