We urgently need your support.
Why Pathways needs to exist
Here at Pathways, we believe that anyone who has experienced abuse, should be able to access timely and appropriate services to help them recover from their past. Can you imagine how it must feel if someone tells you who you can talk to, what you must wear, when to go to bed, what to eat, to have to ask for permission to visit your family? What if your abuser is also your carer, you could be over medicated, under medicated or denied your medication altogether. People who have been abused, either as adults or when they were children, need longer term support to reconcile their past experiences and move forward with confidence. Pathways offers supportive help and has seen 1000s of lives change for the better – please help us to continue providing this vital lifeline.
Without it, our much needed service that offers safe and accessible recovery services for women and men in Barnsley who have currently, or have previously, experienced domestic abuse will close. Please help us if you can. Your support truly will make all the difference, enabling us to change people’s lives and futures for the better.
Barnsley DV Group is a registered charity (no. 1085073) that was formed in 1994 to plug the gap in domestic abuse services for the people of Barnsley. From small, humble beginnings, we’ve grown and developed into a service that now provides an essential lifeline for hundreds of local people who rely on the much needed help and support that they receive here. Our support is invaluable and without it, we know that many women and men, will suffer and struggle to rebuild their lives.
People who have experienced domestic abuse, besides the trauma they’ve endured, can also suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD and other serious mental health conditions. Our work at Pathways (BDVG) of which we are incredibly proud, empowers people who have been or who are suffering from domestic abuse, enabling them to develop, grow and crucially feel valued. We’ve seen for ourselves the incredible difference that our help and support makes, enabling people to move forward in their lives with a sense of confidence and healthier levels of self esteem.
Personal feedback from our clients show great improvements in the following areas : Understanding Abuse 92%, Safety 81%, Mental Health 78%, Confidence 86%, Relationship with children 84%. In 2017-18 we supported over 1,000 people/families.
Our charity does not receive any public funding and we are currently operating thanks to a Big Lottery grant which ends in August this year. Without your support, our much needed service will close, leaving hundreds of people without the help and guidance they so desperately need.
Please help us if you can and thank you for taking the time to look at and consider our life changing project.
We know not everyone is in a position to give to good causes, but you can show you care by sharing this link with your friends and family. Thank you!
