Aim

Raising essential funds to support our children's show 'Patch the Solitary Bee', taking place this September as part of Tiny Ideas Festival.

We are Sapling Theatre; a theatre-making duo made up of two Oxford-based creatives Tulsi Talbot and Caitlin Kirby.

This September, our debut children's show 'Patch the Solitary Bee' will be performed as part of Tiny Ideas Festival 2026, and we need to raise essential funds by August to:

  • Cast three Oxfordshire-based performers to create opportunity for local creatives
  • Book a rehearsal venue to put the show on its feet
  • Source props and materials to bring our story to life

‘Patch the Solitary Bee’ was originally a children’s book, written by Ashley Coates. The story follows the tale of Patch, a solitary bee who is on a journey to find out what type of insect she is. With Ashley's permission, we have adapted the book into a new children’s musical, which is suitable for families and is aimed at young people aged 4+.

Our show strives to:

  • Raise awareness for solitary bees, the climate and other garden insects in a fun, uplifting and engaging way.
  • Empower young people to make small positive changes that can have a lasting impact.
  • Facilitate an accessible and welcoming environment that celebrates creativity in young people, and to spark an interest in theatre and stories.

It's been a dream of ours to be able to put on this show, and we really hope that you are able to help support us along this journey.
