In 1962 sax maniac Rodney Slater, Lord Rodney to his friends, founded the groundbreaking and genre defining comedy/rock group The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band with the much missed Vivian Stanshall. They were later joined by national treasure Neil Innes and a legend - which John Peel  credited with putting a smile on the face of the counter culture - was born.

The band went on to enjoy 5 years of great success, touring the USA with Led Zeppelin, scoring a hit single with the Paul McCartney produced 'I'm the Urban Spaceman', appearing in The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour and performing as the houseband on the proto Monty Python show 'Do Not Adjust Your Set'. They occupy a unique place within the British cultural lexicon, influencing a generation of alternative comics including Stephen Fry, Adrian Edmondson and Bill Bailey along the way, and now, with your help, the story continues.

Now, at the grand old age of 75, self described 'late developer' Lord Rodney, has gathered his flock of Parrots, including writing partner Michael 'Sir Henry at Rawlinson End' Livesley, Steely Dan's Elliott Randall, The Rutles' John 'Barry Wom' Halsey and The Mekons' Susie Honeyman - to record his debut LP of brand spanking new material. Lord Rodney has taken a look at the post-truth world we all now live in and has decided to hang up his hoe and leave his kitchen garden for a short while to offer us all his antidote - PARROTOPIA! However, PARROTOPIA! needs YOU!

In this dystopian nightmare we have awoken in there can only be safety in numbers. That is where you come in dear prospective Parrotopians. We are offering you all the opportunity, via the glorious pledges you see to your right, to help us craft this Rodnium vision and to release it to fly around the world. For PARROTOPIA is a state of mind.

Lord Rodney is a warmly loved elder statesman within the music industry and due to that fact we have managed to cut all costs to the bone. We forecast that to write, record, produce and manufacture Parrotopia! it will cost a minimum of £3000. However, with professionals' fees that means we need £4000. If we raise £6000 we will use the extra money for promoting the LP.
