Aim

Running our sustainable pantry costs money. This will go toward the boring stuff funders often won’t pay for!

Our focus is providing eco-friendly, affordable, local food. We are based in a church hall in Shevington. We open 3 times a week, for 1.5 hours, serving about 60 people a week.

We were established in 2020, firstly as a foodbank where we collected food and dropped it off at homes. As lockdown lifted we found there was still a need for affordable food. We modelled ourselves on Fur Clemt’s style of offering affordable, sustainably sourced food.

Members sign up for £5 a year and buy the food they choose (not food packages). Prices range from free to about £3 per item.

We collect food via Fareshare and Neighbourly. Our members can stock up on frozen, ambient, fresh and chilled items. We encourage all our members to cook and share recipes to give others ideas.

Our dedicated gang of volunteers turn up week after week. Some to do collections in their cars, others serve customers, clean, stock the pantry and manage food waste. Our volunteers have a wonderful experience working at the pantry - it allows them to socialise with local folk and try out new foods.
