Developed by financial advisers, Panda allows individuals to learn more about money management in a jargon-free environment, free of charge.
"According to the Money Advice Service, 47% of UK adults do not have a financial plan that covers the next five years, and 21% claim they never or very rarely save."
Introducing Panda - your NEW financial friend
Panda is a soon-to-be launched educational website that provides working-age adults in the UK access to relevant and up to date information about financial affairs. The primary aim is to assist people in becoming more financially literate and avoid the traps many undoubtedly face (unsecured lending, financial scams etc.), focusing on more than the typical “spend less and save more” mantra.
After seeing the effect the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had on both individuals and businesses, we launched Panda to help make a difference using our team’s years of industry experience working in large financial institutions and universities.
Individuals will be able to access our website readily and begin to learn and understand key elements of finance at their own pace. Whether it is setting up a pension for the first time, or wanting to manage your own investment portfolio, the information will help those in different stages of their lives move closer to their lifestyle goals. All information we publish will follow a simple, jargon-free approach throughout and seeks to provide a holistic learning experience.
Developed by financial advisers in partnership with leading UK universities, Panda encourages people to learn more about money management in a jargon-free environment, free of charge.
Why does Panda need to exist?
The UK government is working to increase the level of financial education provision that is within the National Curriculum within schools. Whilst this is positive change, we believe working-age adults are being forgotten about, with safety nets only in place when issues arise.
Education within this realm is a proactive way of helping people understand their options and be confident in their ability to know when to take action. The knowledge acquired in most parts can provide lifelong benefits, making our offering useful to adults of any age.
UK adults hold record levels of unsecured personal debt in the UK today, with 11.5m people having less than £100 saved for a rainy day. According to the charity, Mind, “worrying about money can make a person’s mental health worse”. With the long term economic implications of the coronavirus yet unknown, we believe now is the time to proactively help those in need of guidance, and develop a platform by which individuals can become more savvy about money matters.
What’s the long-term plan for Panda?
Become a recognised, trusted source of information that offers a ‘one stop shop’ for financial education.
Build a selection of nationally-accredited qualifications that can help boost confidence and job prospects of learners.
Collaborate with employers to help integrate financial literacy into their internal training programs.
How can I help Panda today?
As a newcomer, we need to get the message out there about what we are trying to achieve. We welcome and thank you for donations towards our cause via this crowdfunding campaign and would also ask you to engage with us on social media. Doing so can help dramatically increase our reach and help more people become financially literate today!
Thank you!
