PalCafe

Our Vision is to to establish a PalCafe - a Palestinian Cafe/Shop in Glasgow, comprising retail space, coffee/snacks and, if possible, a space for events and gatherings.

Why?

Through the retail space we hope to offer an outlet for sale of products from artssans and other producers in Palestine, thereby supporting ordinary people and their livelihood and communities.

We’d anticipate also stocking books and other materials which tell their story.

Through the cafe, offering high quality drinks and light snacks, we’d hope to offer hospitality to the general public, bring in new customers and generate income to support PalCafe and projects in Palestine such as HIRN.

Through curated events and gatherings, we’d hope to nurture conversations and friendships, promote education and information and facilitate the possibility of practical, positive engagement, including supporting the City of Glasgow’s twinning with Bethlehem.

PalCafe will be  a charity but run on a commercial basis, to offer high quality products and to generate income for charitable projects consonant with our charitable goals.

How?

We intend to operate as a Community Benefit Society and a registered Scottish charity. We have submitted an application for charitable status which, once granted, will enable us to seek substantial funding.   But to get to that point, we need to cover the cost of professional fees, design work and occasional venue hire.   If you can help with this seed funding, it would ease the way.  Thank you.
