To enable the one-man theatre and audio play 'Paddy Hill: Inside Out' go into full production
March 14th 2026 heralds the 35th anniversary of the Birmingham Six's release from jail.
That evening, Carlton Studios in Glasgow will host an excerpted production of the stage play Paddy Hill: Inside Out, now crafted into a monologue.
Starring Conor Mc Clean, the monologue tells of Paddy Hill’s transformation from one of ‘The Six Most Hated Men In Britain’ to an inspirational justice campaigner of global renown.
The Carlton performance will be an excerpt from the full play, followed by a Q&A with the actor, writer/director Martin Lloyd Withers, and long-time Paddy Hill ally John McManus. We will have tunes from Doctur Normul.
With rehearsals already under way, the play’s prime focus will be on the successful treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - something Paddy himself was never afforded in his own lifetime.
PTSD is widely recognised as the most common symptom of not just those wrongfully convicted, but their families too.
Brand new, limited edition merchandise will also be available at the event and online thereafter, subject to availability.
A strictly limited number of tickets to the event on 14th March will be available to those contributing £25or more to this campaign.
Paddy Hill: Inside Out will also be produced as a full-length audio play with an estimated release date of May 29th. CDs will be complimentary to all donors over £50 to this campaign.
Throughout the summer and autumn, rehearsals will continue for a full-length stage production marking the 25th year of Paddy’s own Miscarriages Of Justice Organisation. One date is already set for Glasgow in November, with others also being lined up.
2026 will be rounded off by a big celebration of Paddy’s life - including another full-length performance of the play - on or around December 20th, which would have been his 82nd birthday.
This Crowdfunder appeal is to enable payment to the play’s cast and crew during rehearsals and performances so that they can successfully bring this remarkable story to a wider audience.

The Writer
Martin Lloyd Withers initially connected with Paddy Hill by writing his unofficial theme tune, 'Hey Paddy Joe'. They then worked together for many years piecing together Paddy's story for a stage play.
Born in Birmingham of Irish descent (hence his interest in the truth behind the pub bombings), Martin is an alumni of Birmingham Rep's 'Writers Attachment Scheme', for whom he wrote the award-winning comedy 'No Sweat', which can be watched here, or bought in book form here:
He also adapted the working class epic The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists into a children's book and audio play and, as The Unknown Superstar, is an internationally acclaimed songwriter.
