Aim

We are opening Tue, Thu and Fri mornings to offer FREE activities for the local community - a space to meet, chat over a cuppa and join in.

Who are we?

Pocklington Arts Centre was opened in 2000 as an entertainment venue for Pocklington and surrounding villages. Over the past 23 years our reputation and consistency in attracting respected artists brings us a wide range of discerning visitors from across the World!

In 2023, our focus will be on deepening our roots in our local community and adapting to meet the changing needs of our audiences.

Our Warm Space Community Cafe (Tue & Fri 10-12) is a completely new venture for us alongside our Singing for Fun group (Thu 10.30-12) - both are dementia friendly and volunteer led.

Community impact

Pocklington Arts Centre is in the heart of the local community on Market Place. By evolving our offer we hope to meet the needs of those who may not currently visit us for entertainment and to celebrate our accessibility and the guaranteed warm welcome from our committed volunteers and staff.

Visitors will have an opportunity to participate in optional activities including Bingo sessions, Art Workshops, Chair Exercise, themed food days eg Pancake Day or a trip to our Cinema for a Matinee.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are a publicly funded not for profit organisation and feel a shared responsibility in providing safe, warm space to combat loneliness, social isolation and/or rural access to affordable (FREE) leisure options.

There are of course costs incurred to deliver to these objectives and therefore we are appealing for funding to help us meet the rising costs of heating/lighting and to support local/emerging artists by paying a fair rate for their work.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All donations received will be held in a restricted fund to be drawn down from to create an opportunity for us to expand on our planned Community Cafe activity sessions and provide ongoing support of our Singing for Fun group on Thursday mornings.

It is anticipated that any additional personal donations received will pay to replenish stock of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, milk and bread ongoing and allow us to pay for artistic work devised for those living with dementia and to offer inclusive experiences to combat loneliness and social isolation.
