Who are we?

We are a Community Interest Company that is community led and staffed by wonderful volunteers.

We are looking or finding to help with the costs of our “Food Resilience Challenge “to make sure that no body goes hungry in our community.

We serve the community in Wellington Somerset and surrounding areas we work  in a wholistic  manner with the families and individuals  in our community.

We have for almost  4 years been providing a taste of food from around the world sourced locally from Wellington Somerset as a means of bringing the community together and contributing to community cohesion.

We also regularly donate food adults Key workers and the Isolated elderly in our community. We have been doing this on a regular basis since the emergence of COVID -19 to date.
At the present time we have seen a significant increase in demand for our services as we work with families facing the Cost of Living Crisis and other vulnerable members of our community.

P Daddy’s Pop up Kitchen CIC is  keen to make a major contribution to addressing issues of food poverty and food  waste  by redistributing surplus  food from the local supermarkets  to local families in need.  Free of charge to the families we work with.

One of the ways we will do this is by launching a pop up kitchen where we will facilitate family cooking sessions for the families we work with this will involve sharing  healthy cooking ideas and cooking on a budget.

All the ingredients will be free of charge to the families and will be sourced from the surplus food we collect from the supermarkets. it is important that we include the whole family in these sessions so the children can be involved in the cooking process at the end of session we can all enjoy a home cooked meal together.

We are able to provide the  families we work with with enough food to last them whilst they are being referred to other providers is the area.

We are determined to do our bit to reduce food waste in the in our community , while at the same time ensuring that surplus food goes to the people who need it the most.

We work closely with our suppliers( local supermarkets and the local community) to encourage and help them to donate their surplus food safely and effectively, which we then redistribute to our network of members, via our food hubs and partners.

To date we have over 150 families on our database in wellington and the surrounding areas.

Our exciting range of fundraising gifts, also sold via our Wellington Produce Market  are helping us to counter the financial challenges capable of meeting the increased demand for our services.

With your support we will be able to scale up our response to the Cost of Living Crisis and bring people together through food in our communities this winter and beyond.

We  have in the  years of our existence worked very hard to  establish strong working partnerships with our local supermarkets  we are signed up members of fare share and we have established a community food box with a local business where members of the community can donate their surplus food, this food is then distributed straight to the community via self referrals, school referring families they know are struggling,  we provide them with advice and a reliable service to redistribute their surpluses saving them money, time and resources in the process.

With this a funding we hope to deliver up to  a number cookery workshops in community centres & faith spaces providing further meals and essential skills to those most in need.

We will also continue to cook and distribute meals to the communities we continue to work with.
