We're still collecting donations
On the 14th December 2023 we'd raised £65 with 3 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
I run a popular recycling project at my small business which is funded by myself but without extra funding can't continue as I had hoped.

On the 14th December 2023 we'd raised £65 with 3 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
I started beach cleans way back in 1971 and have seen first hand the impact that plastic is having in our environment, especially the sea where we can never know how much plastic is hidden below the waves. 50 years later, I'm still doing regular beach cleans and this year alone have removed over 10,000 pieces of plastic from the shoreline. In February 2023, I opened my zero-waste shop selling toiletries, cleaning products, homewares and gift ideas which, of course are all plastic-free which I ensure are sustainable and ethical.
I continue to find ways to 'make a difference' and have recently introduced recycling schemes to collect plastics from stationary, oral care products and medication blister packs. However, this does have a financial impact on myself as I have to purchase special bags from Terracycle who include some of the recycling costs within the price of a bag at £39 for each bag. A bag can only contain one type of recycling and is sent off to Terracycle who will turn the plastic waste into new products such as pallets, posts, benches and play equipment.
In the first couple of days, I had people calling in with carrier bags full of medication blister packs as the national retailer who had been taking them had stopped accepting them at the local branch and they are not accepted in kerbside collection. I know if they are not recycled, that is a huge mount of plastic going to landfill or incineration so want to give the recycling option. However, I will not be able to cover the cost for very long so hope people will consider donating towards the ongoing cost of this.
