ABOUT OUR MOTHERS’ DAUGHTERS

The promising artist, an insecure jester, and a wannabe home-maker, are a sisterhood of oddballs.

As their lives are thrown into turmoil, they navigate “adulting” in the face of an engagement, an impossible decision, and the hard reality that while you can choose your friends — you can’t choose your family.

Putting women centre stage, ‘Our Mothers’ Daughters’ explores both the harsh and the hilarious edges of the female experience. Tara Ray's electric writing refuses to conform to stereotypical 'female character' tropes - disrupting and entertaining through her earnest writing & the honest reflection of being a woman.

WHY SUPPORT US?

This is a true passion project for the cast and creative team. Written originally as a supplementary piece to her dissertation in 2022, Tara Ray has been developing the play to create the representation of women as the complex and multifaceted characters she (and we) all know them to be. Why should we accept stories where half the population is relegated to sexy lampshades, silent criers or vague sketches of people? Audiences want to meet characters that are full and dynamic, brimming with idiosyncrasies and detail like the women we know and love in our lives. This is Our Mothers’ Daughters.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Fringe Theatre is the life blood of the London theatre scene and it is not for the faint hearted. Venue hire, rehearsal spaces and production costs add up quickly, and they all come out of the run’s profits. Our creatives are being paid by profit share, by donating to our crowdfunder you are putting money directly into the pockets of the women who create the show.

Our target of £1000 will cover:

  • £325 for the rest of the venue deposit
  • £560 for rehearsal venue hire cost at £14 per hour
  • £115 for set and production costs

We so appreciate your support and are incredibly excited to welcome you to the play in May!
