Aim

This Christmas, we’re asking for your help. Together, we hope to raise £5,000 to ensure we can continue welcoming anyone who needs it.

OUR COMMUNITY KNOWS NO BORDERS - STAND IN SOLIDARITY THIS CHRISTMAS

At its heart, Christmas is a story of refuge - of finding shelter, of kindness offered by strangers, and of hope that transcends borders.

For the past two decades, Refugee Support Devon has been that hope for hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers who arrive here in Devon - often with no one to turn to and no access to support. We offer a warm, Devon welcome to those who've fled the unimaginable, risking everything to seek safety.

Since last Christmas we've been visited over 3000 times by almost 800 people seeking safety.

But we don't do this alone. We rely on the support of the local community, the kindness of strangers to keep us going. This Christmas, we’re asking for your help once again. Together, we hope to raise £5,000 to ensure we can continue welcoming anyone who needs us in 2026. Now more than ever - as hostility towards migrants and refugees grows - our work is vital. With your support, we’ll keep offering practical help, compassion, continue tackling misinformation and providing hope to refugees on the frontlines across Devon.

Our small team of seven supported by over 80 dedicated volunteers, delivers life-changing services across Devon:

  • English lessons that help people build confidence, connect, and find their voice in a new country.

  • Specialist training to help skilled refugee medical professionals requalify here in the UK  -  filling vital gaps in our struggling NHS while rebuilding their own futures.

  • An Immigration Advice Clinic accredited to IAA Levels 1 and 2, offering free legal advice in what is otherwise a legal advice desert here in Devon.

  • Drop-in sessions in Exeter twice a week - a hub of warmth and welcome, where people can get crisis support, share a cup of tea, and speak to a friendly face who listens and offers practical advice.

  • An Advisory Panel bringing together people with lived experience of the immigration and asylum systems in Devon. Their voices guide and shape everything we do, ensuring that solidarity is always a verb.

Every week, people walk through our doors tired, anxious, or lost - and leave feeling a little more hopeful.
