Aim: Help us bring Ronan Colfer's daring new Irish play to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025.
OUR STORY
- Inspired by true events, Our Brothers in Cloth is an urgent new play which confronts the devastating legacy of abuse and generational trauma in the Catholic church. Our show pays tribute to those who dare to speak, and challenges those still afraid to listen.
- We want to give audiences the best opportunity to see our theatre show this year to mark the 20th anniversary of the Ferns Report in Ireland, a landmark inquiry into clerical child sexual abuse in Wexford, Ireland.
OUR SHOW
- With a predominantly Irish company featuring live traditional Irish music, Our Brothers in Cloth promises to inform audiences about the Irish experience, while immersing them into a world which is not too dissimilar from today. Audiences will leave audiences feeling entertained, informed, and consciously aware.
OUR CHARITY PARTNERS
- We are partnering with survivor charities with additional support from activist Colm O’Gorman (founder of One in Four and ex-Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland).
- Our dream is to inspire survivors of suicide and sexual abuse to tell their stories, opening the conversation and creating discussions amongst our audience.
- Our Brothers in Cloth promotes the necessity of believing the silenced, the hurt, and the brave while examining the effects of lasting scars on families and communities.
WHY THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE?
- We have the rare opportunity to share our story with the widest demographic possible in the largest theatre festival in the world.
- We are working with Assembly Festival – one of the top venues at the Fringe – to give our production the greatest potential of success through audience footfall.
- We are eager for Irish communities and those passionate about social justice and political theatre to see our show, including those who want to know about Irish history and culture.
THE PROBLEM
- Child sexual abuse is on the rise, and is not backing down easy.
- Since we first began working on this show back in March 2024, individuals have tried to silence us, and we will not back down.
- Support us to raise our voices, and champion for greater change in our society where accountability and justice prevails.
ABOUT OUR PLAY
- In the sleepy village of Bunderr, silence speaks volumes. After the suicide of his brother, Alan sets out to uncover the truth — what he finds threatens to tear his close-knit community apart.
- Our Brothers in Cloth is a bold new play by Irish writer Ronan Colfer. Inspired by real events of clerical child sexual abuse and generational trauma, our play examines the long shadows cast by the Irish Catholic church, and asks one question: How can a society heal when justice is buried beneath shame?
