Otley 2030

Bringing the town together to create climate-friendly and sustainable communities where people and nature thrive together.

Our goal is to make Otley a carbon-zero, sustainable and fair town by the 2030s, and to ensure that this transition is made in a just and democratic way, involving all areas of our local community.

We work to establish projects that will secure a thriving future for Otley. Over the past few years we have been involved with the following projects:

  • Opened Otley Community Larder - intercepting surplus food to reduce carbon emissions and help local people
  • Weston Woods - Led on the Crowdfunding and comms to secure the future of these beautiful woods for the community and nature
  • Fruit and Veg Box Scheme - delivering fresh fruit and veg to local families and older people during the school holidays
  • Solar - Working with Solar for Schools and Otley Energy to get solar panels on 3 local schools and the library
  • Future Weston Project - Solar panels on the social and football clubs; local energy saving workshops; fruit tree and wildflower planting
  • Otley Common - helping to raise the funds to purchase Otley Methodist Church and turn it into a community hub and exemplar of sustainability
  • East of Otley - Leading on the design of an exemplar development plan and opposing Persimmon's destructive proposal
  • Otley Nature Network - Establising this network that brings together local groups to work on a joined up plan for the future of nature in Otley and the surrounding area

This is just a sample of the amazing projects we have been involved with.

Your donation will go towards supporting these and many more projects we hope to be involved with going forward.
