To host a unique arts event 'Other Words For Anger'. Donations will fund the production of artworks, a publication and live performances.
Eyup Gallery, Rotherham, 25 May 2018
Following a chance meeting, two old school friends from Rotherham join forces to present an evening of words, sounds and images that confront the difficult issues around survival of child sexual exploitation.
Subject to horrific abuse, vilified by national media and repeatedly let down by local agencies that should have supported them, “Other Words For Anger” constructs a powerfully moving story of unbreakable courage, of the ongoing journeys from exploitation to personal empowerment.
These are the words and voices of a town coming together - to heal the pain of this difficult moment in its history; to celebrate Rotherham’s rich, beautiful and diverse cultural tapestry.
’T’ is a survivor of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham. She frequently campaigns for the rights of survivors and acts as an advocate and mentor to those currently dealing with these issues. As well as being a youth worker, she is a writer and regularly speaks at conferences around the UK to raise awareness.
Rian Treanor is an artist and music producer that grew up in Rotherham. He has set up and managed several artist led spaces and projects. His own work has been presented at numerous exhibitions and arts festivals around the world.
Please note, this event contains images and themes that some viewers may find disturbing.
