Help them get started
Your support makes a difference
The ancient town of Ormskirk has a long and fascinating history, our Pop Up Museum will tell its amazing story.
Help us to get the museum Ormskirk deserves.
From links to royalty, Civil War battles, agricultural innovations, horses for the war effort, a Charge of the Light Brigade survivor, unique Parish Church and of course, the gingerbread story, Ormskirk's heritage has it all.
Ormskirk Heritage Hub was created in 2025 by local history enthusiasts Dot Broady Hawkes and Kathryn MacDonald with the specific aim of setting up a museum to act as a focus for local heritage. Dot and Kathryn have a proven track record in delivering history talks, walks, social media posts, newspaper articles, books and telling tales of Ormskirk's past to anyone who will listen. They can often be found around the town trying to figure out the history of an old building or visiting local groups, care homes or schools.
The "Ormskirk Pop Up Museum" concept means that heritage events, talks, displays, walks can take place anywhere and everywhere around the town. This includes the very popular Ormskirk Museum in a Telephone Box and displays in Ormskirk Library and Parish Church. The Heritage Hub team is currently working towards opening a shop centre premises as a temporary museum which would give the project a focus within the local community.
With the support of local heritage groups, local councillors, West Lancashire Borough Council, interested volunteers and funding from Lancashire County Council and crowdfunded donations, great strides have been made, but with your help Ormskirk Heritage Hub can go further and ensure a sustained heritage offer for our town.
