About Us:

We’ve worked together in refugee camps on Lesvos and integration projects in Athens since this crisis began in 2016.

We’ve seen the worst of what displacement can do.

And we’ve also seen something else: hands that kept creating.

Weaving. Stitching. Shaping beauty in the midst of loss.

That’s what stayed with us. And that’s what led us here.

Origin Box is born from this witness.

Our Timeline:

We aren't starting from scratch — this is the fruit of nearly a decade of work.

2016 — Our team began working on the frontlines of the European refugee crisis in Lesvos. 

2021 — We co-founded Rain Lab, a social enterprise in Athens that employs refugee artisans to create ethical fashion. This became a model for integrating displaced communities into viable, dignified work.

Late 2024 — Planning for Origin Box began: a new venture to connect global consumers with artisan-made products through curated ritual boxes.

October 2025 — The first campaign launches here on Kickstarter.

Early 2026 — www.originbox.co.uk goes live, our dedicated e-commerce platform.

Late 2026 — Expansion into EU and US markets through a replicable crowdfunding-to-market strategy.

Every step has built on the last. Every milestone has brought us closer to this launch!

Why We Exist:

Rain Lab is a diverse group of artisans and creatives from Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine & Greece. Rain Lab uses fashion to empower people who arrive in Greece hoping for a better future.

The goal of our workshop is to help women to empower themselves in the workplace and therefore gain a better future with dignity.

At Lesvos Woodcraft, our mission is to provide a sales platform for hand-carved spoons crafted by displaced individuals who have arrived in Greece, seeking to rebuild their lives in Europe.

Our goal is to empower these artisans, building together a future of hope, opportunity, and renewed faith.

Threads of Hope is a registered non-profit business in Athens, Greece, dedicated to transforming the lives of women who have experienced exploitation. While financial sustainability matters, it is not our driving force; instead, we exist to help people heal, grow, and thrive. 

All profits are reinvested into wages, training, materials, and ongoing support.

We built Origin Box to offer another solution:

And help give people like Sama - who fled Iran and now lives in Athens - an opportunity to tell their stories.

"For a refugee woman - like me - being able to work is everything! With the income I earn, I feel strong and independent. I do not rely on charity for my food or other goods, which other people decide whether or not they are a priority for me, a refugee."

60% — Direct to Suppliers
Fair, dignified payments to refugee artisans and marginalized producers in Greece, the Near East, and rural India.

25% — Operations & Logistics
Shipping, packaging, quality control, and coordination to ensure your box arrives with excellence.

15% — Social Enterprise Growth
A small profit margin is reinvested directly into launching our permanent e-commerce platform at www.originbox.co.uk, ensuring long-term sustainability and scaling opportunities.

This crowdfunding campaign is not just about launching a product. It’s about building a market-integration model that can be replicated in other regions — beginning with the EU and US in 2026.
