Help Oreo Waddle On 💙 Vet Care for our brave boy

To raise funds for Oreo veterinary care after breaking his femur, covering past and potential future surgeries, treatment and care.
About Us & Our Vision
Sally’s Duck Rescue is dedicated to giving ducks a second chance at a safe, healthy, and happy life. We take in ducks that are injured, abandoned, or in need of specialist care, and we commit to them for the long term — not just until the crisis passes.
Oreo is one of those ducks.
After breaking his femur, Oreo has already undergone two complex surgeries. Prior to coming into our care, Oreo’s previous owner spent around £1,000 on his initial veterinary treatment. Since joining Sally’s Duck Rescue, we have already spent £469.91 so far on his ongoing care and surgery.
Oreo has shown incredible resilience, but his journey isn’t over yet. He will be seen again in early January to assess how well his leg is healing and whether the damage is significant enough that he may need to have his leg amputated. Even if amputation isn’t necessary, Oreo will require ongoing specialist care, careful management, and support to ensure he remains comfortable and has the best possible quality of life.
Why We’re Fundraising
As a rescue, we are only able to fundraise for costs incurred while Oreo is in our care. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards:
- Covering the vets cost already spent by Sally’s Duck Rescue
- Supporting any further veterinary treatment or surgery following his January assessment
- Ongoing medication, treatment, rehabilitation, and specialist care
- Ensuring Oreo’s continued wellbeing, comfort, and long-term care
Our vision is simple: that Oreo can recover as fully as possible, live without pain, and continue his life surrounded by care and safety — whatever his outcome.
By supporting this fundraiser, you’re not just helping with vet bills — you’re helping us keep a promise we make to every duck that comes into our care: that we will do everything we can to keep them well, protected, and loved, no matter how long it takes.

UPDATE (2 Feb 2026) - We are delighted to say that Oreo has made an amazing recovery and despite it all we have agreed with the vets that his progress has been so good that we will not be amputating at this time. We will of course need to keep a close eye on him over time to ensure no change happens but as it stands right now Oreo remains a wonderful duck with not one but two legs :-)
A further vet bill of £149.91 was spent on further antibiotics to get us to here so the total vets bill has been £619.82. Any funds donated will go towards covering this cost for the rescue.
