Aim

We wish to raise funds to acquire professional advice to oppose the Grange Court development.

Taymount Grange is a locally listed heritage asset in Forest Hill and home to Lewisham residents like you.

Summary - Metropolitan Properties / Freshwater / Daejan Holdings have applied to build a 5-storey / 29-unit block on the communal gardens and allotments of Taymount Grange.

Call to action - We are looking for financial contributions from residents and the local community. With the funds raised, we will seek legal advice and guidance from a team of planning lawyers/consultants.

What are we trying to achieve? - We wish to preserve our rights to our limited green spaces, gardens and allotments which are already shared by over a hundred people in the existing block. We want to protect fellow neighbours from the effects of overdevelopment and also ensure Lewisham council do not continue to grant permission for applications which aren't providing affordable housing.

What is the next step in the case? - We would hope, having understood the legal grounds for opposition, Lewisham would reject this application. What is likely is the application will go to the planning committee where local councillors will vote.

As we've learnt from previous planning applications, it rests on one question: "Does the application meet the London Planning Policy?"

How much are we raising and why? - We have been quoted £3,000 - £5,000 to look at the case. Planning law is complicated and open to interpretation. Make no mistake building property is hugely profitable, and developers also employ numerous professionals and experts to make their applications appear viable. We kindly ask you to consider a donation of between £100 to £200 but any amount you're able to give will help.

We thank you sincerely. This is not a nimby campaign to protect an allotment. It addresses a broader issue of excessive overdevelopment in the borough and what little protection residents have against well-funded landowners.

Lewisham council are granting planning applications, such as this one, without social or affordable housing. Applications like these are only exacerbating the housing crisis.

Thank you

Taymount Grange Residents Association.
