Help protect Weeton village from Industrial Solar Development the size of 50 football pitches! Please read the Overview below for more info
Weeton is a rural village in North Yorkshire, surrounded by farmland used for agricultural and pastoral purposes. Our local authority have, to date, protected this landscape and its sites of biodiversity and recognised the value of the agricultural and pastoral land that surrounds the village.
With its high-grade Green Belt land and spectacular countryside, the village of Weeton is wholly unsuitable for an industrial scale solar plant. Yet, at this very moment, the community is threatened with such a project and on productive agricultural land plum in the centre of the village and impacting a Public Right of Way.
We need your support to oppose this proposed industrial solar farm. This large-scale development threatens to change the character of our village, impact local wildlife, and disrupt our rural landscape. While we support renewable energy, we believe solar farms should be placed in appropriate locations — not on productive farmland and green spaces that define our community.
Why We Need Your Support
Fighting a planning application of this scale requires resources. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us take the necessary steps to ensure our voices are heard.
How Your Donations Will Be Used
Your contributions will directly fund the efforts needed to challenge this proposal, including:
• Professional Planning & Legal Advice – Engaging planning consultants and legal experts to strengthen our case against the development.
• Awareness Campaigns – Designing and printing flyers, banners, and posters to inform residents and encourage public opposition.
• Website & Online Resources – Hosting and maintaining an information hub where residents can access updates and guidance on submitting objections. (Website due to go live by the end of April '25)
• Community Meetings & Events – Organising public meetings to discuss the impact of the solar farm and coordinate efforts.
• Official Reports & Environmental Studies – Commissioning expert assessments on the impact on wildlife, traffic, and the local landscape.
Every Contribution Makes a Difference
Time is critical. The planning process allows only a limited window for objections, so we must act fast. By donating, you are helping to protect Weeton’s rural character and ensuring that residents’ voices are heard in the decision-making process.
Please help us to fight this proposal. Because surely projects like this cannot be at any cost, in any place.
Together, we can protect Weeton!
