Aim

We are aiming to raise enough funds to purchase and install a Lift to make our Community Building accessible to many more people

Nailsea and Backwell RFC is at the heart of the community in our local area. As well as the 3 senior men’s contact rugby teams we have a successful mini & junior set up (with players from ages 5 up to 17), a vibrant walking rugby team (known as the Silver Ravens), touch rugby teams at both senior and junior age groups and we are re-launching women’s rugby at the club this autumn.  In addition we are the home of Nailsea Running Club and we host several large community events each year, including the highly popular Beer & Cider Festival and Fireworks Night.

Our fundraising project is named ‘Operation UpLift’ and is a vital necessity in making our club accessible to more members of the community, from near and far.  Our clubhouse is split into 2 levels, with the upstairs function rooms and viewing areas currently only accessible via steep steps and stairs.

We have already raised £30,000 of a required £45,00 towards building a small extension that will house a lift – meaning our whole clubhouse will be open and available to all users. This amount includes the installation of the lift, which we envisage being used not only by wheelchair users and persons of limited mobility, but also by mums with pushchairs and for injured players amongst others.
