OPERATION OASIS needs funding to continue to create Food Boxes, Toiletries, Children's, Baby, Hygiene Hampers/packs across Bassetlaw.
Our aim at OASIS Community Centre is to be a 'Heart for the Community in the Heart of the Community'. We started OPERATION OASIS at the beginning of the Covid period to try to help people overcome isolation, reduce loneliness and to help them have enough food to eat and essentials items to manage through the lockdown period. We started to make up boxes of food and toiletries and we started to give them to those in most need in the community. The need was far greater than we imagined and so we tried to raise funds to expand this work and to grow it and reach more people across the most deprived parts of Bassetlaw. 2 1/2 years later the project is still needed with so many people unable to make ends meet and needing extra support.
In the last 2 1/2 years we have made and delivered over 18,650 hampers, boxes and parcels to thousands of individuals and families across the area and continue to do so. We have said that as long as we can raise the funds to buy the food and other items needed then we would continue the project and try to reach as many people as we can. It is not just the importance of the food in the parcel but the knowledge that someone cares and is helping them. This project is so needed to help and support people from every walk of life that happens to have fallen on difficult times and need that little extra support. The little we give goes a long way and it supports so many people. Please join with us in helping the most needy people in our community. Thank you on behalf of the hungry, the needy, the lonely and the desperate!
