Opening Doors Appeal

Aim

We're opening our doors on a brand new building in 2026 because we want more international students to have a home from home at ISH.

Be part of the future by donating to ISH's Opening Doors Appeal.  

ISH is proudly expanding. We have collected the keys to our very own new building and will start preparing for our grand opening in June 2026.  

We have loved welcoming students into the ISH family for 60 years and many of you will have experienced the safety and warm welcome we provide. With our new building we will be able to expand and provide a special home to up to 611 students each year across both Great Portland Street and Kennington. We hope you will join us in this next step on our journey. By donating you can help ISH: 

• Expand the number of accommodation scholarships we offer from 35 in 2025 to 100 – £16,700 could fund an ISH accommodation scholarship for one year.
  
  
• Extend our Great Portland Street cultural exchange programme into the new Kennington campus; did you know we already provide subsidies for residents' Travel Club adventures totalling £99,000 a year?
  
  
• Expand the welfare and mental health support that is a safety net for young people living far from home and their families. In addition to the Mary Trevelyan Hardship Fund and we want to ringfence £5,000 to provide counselling for residents experiencing challenging mental health. 

Any donation you make will help us open the doors to more international students. We have a number of optional rewards including the chance to sponsor a brick in a commemorative wall in Kennington, or feature in a specially commissioned photomosaic of our founder, Mary Trevelyan. We'd also be glad to explore creating bespoke rewards for major contributions to our Opening Doors Appeal. To discuss acknowledgement for donations over £5,000 (such as plaques in prominent areas of either building to naming scholarships and spaces in Kennington) please contact [email protected].  

However, do not feel you have to select one of these to make a difference to new residents embarking on their time in London. Every gift will help ISH continue to make a lifechanging impact on new residents.
