Its cold and its bleak and people are struggling - we want to do our bit to ease the struggle in our beautiful community space.
At the end of last year we were awarded a grant as part of the community Warm Spaces scheme to cover the costs of opening our doors to local people who are struggling to heat their own houses up to the end of March 2023.
We have provided a non judgemental space thats toasty and warm where people have enjoyed some company, chatted with friends, studied, read books, worked from their laptop, done yoga, warmed up from the cold with their children, played chess and even colouring in and crafts.
The space has had a positive impact on those people using it and feedback has been really positive, especially as the space doesn't feel like a community space, but that people feel like its a home from home.
Our plan is now to raise funding to extend this project to the end of the year, so people know that they can rely on it and that it is here each day until at least the start of 2024. We have applied for match funding through the Co-Op warm spaces scheme and so everything we raise via our crowdfunder will also be matched by them.
Your support is so appreciated and is making a difference.
