OPAL Centre is a special needs play scheme that delivers a child-centred, personalised provision, always with the child in mind. It works with children and young people aged 6-25 giving them a chance to socialise, explore new opportunities and learn skills through the means of play.
OPAL Centre allows children the freedom and independence to choose their own activities and follow their natural desire to play. Within our groups children will have opportunity to gain a range of experiences that contribute towards their emotional, social, intellectual, language and creative development, these opportunities will include freely chose, unstructured, structured and self directed play.
Children and young people are provided with a range of opportunities including sensory play, communication development, community involvement, life skills (such as cookery, healthy lifestyle), being part of a team and building friendships.
The centre also provides much needed respite to parents and carers. Often allowing them quality time with other siblings or time to put there feet up. The charity also aims to set up a support group for parents and carers. We are looking to work with like minded charities to build a wonderful offer for our families
The charity opened March 2023, we are moving at pace and require extra financial support to provide the charity with financial stability. As well are providing quality training for all staff and volunteers and to buy new equipment for the children and young Adults who access the centre.
