We use Japanese craftsmanship to create sustainable clothing and unite our local community through the art of making and mending.
Hi, I'm Sophie, a clothing designer-maker, and the founder of the brand new clothing company S. HAWKINS.

We are raising £10,000 for our next project, working with Japanese environmentally-friendly material-masters, and artisan menders to create a 'fashion-industry-first' run of made to measure, minimum waste, made to last, made to standout, Jumpsuits.

WHO WE ARE
We are an inclusive company, made up of talented creative freelancers, and ethical clothing manufacturers. We work together to produce sustainable garments for the whole of U.K., while also working close to home, using on-line and in-person making and mending workshops with children and adults to unite local communities.
We work with artisans, charities, and eco-conscious brands to develop sustainable solutions for the Global fashion industry.
We are part of an international movement, working from small and large fashion houses alike, towards a greener and more sustainable future for the fashion industry. We push stricter and clearer guidelines, and move in tandem with global movements such as 'Make Fashion Circular'.

HOW WE WORK
Our promise to our customers and manufacturers is that we will always:
WHAT WE MAKE
One of Sophie's designs from her previous company in 2019 included a jumpsuit that we made in-house. We wore it everyday and the feedback from our other wearers around the world was unanimously positive! More women now want one than we can hand-make in our studio...

WHAT YOU ARE SUPPORTING
The Future of S. HAWKINS, and the Future of Fashion.
For 2020 we want to make enough Jumpsuits to match the demand, without losing sight of our role in the global push for sustainability. From a trip in 2019 we made connections with organic cotton weavers and dyers and ethical manufacturers in a small area of Japan. They dye their fabrics with 75% less water, creating beautiful sustainable colours. We are now collaborating with them on a limited number of 300 made-to-measure Jumpsuits, reducing the number of unwanted/ ill-fitting clothes to 0, and supporting sustainable and ethical production.
The £10,000 we are raising will allow us to start production of the Jumpsuits and put in place the support for the manufacturers and buyers to create sustainable clothes.
We will be able to build long-standing relationships with a number of the worlds 'Make Fashion Circular' approved garment manufacturers. As well as creating a global community, empowering our customers, teaching them the skills to care for and nurture the garments that they wear.
The money raised will allow us to continue working with our burgeoning community of repair artists, who have innovative, detailed and beautiful ways of mending and adjusting clothes throughout their life-span. At S. HAWKINS we want to be there when each jumpsuit has 'worn stories', to have our team of hand sewers to mend, and keep them going for another 10 years.
We want to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis into a world where we have nurtured our important global links, where we have supported the communities and businesses hardest hit, and with a community of future-minded people, in future-proof garments.

WHAT YOU WILL GET!
Throughout the campaign different rewards will be released so please keep in touch. We thank you so much for your support during this time. We all understand the need to keep ethical and small businesses going throughout this crisis, however this is often much easier said than done. With your generosity we hope to emerge ready to forge new behaviours in the fashion industry!
