Help women in Bristol facing hunger and hardship

Aim
The cost of living crisis has made things harder for many women living with trauma. We provide care and respite for women facing hardship.
The women we support were facing hardship and poverty before living costs began to rise. Since the pandemic we’ve seen a 53% rise in reports of women experiencing violence. Last year 75% of the women we met were homeless.
Today, things are even harder.
Women are visibly malnourished. More women are telling our night outreach teams that they’re hungry. We’re making more referrals to foodbanks.
So far this year 166 women have received food from One25. We’ve supported 109 women with their finances.
The challenges caused by the cost of living crisis won’t be solved overnight - but we can make them more manageable.

Everything we raise through this campaign will support our ongoing work with marginalised women in Bristol, providing practical help and specialist care as they take brave steps from crisis to independence.
Our support for women facing poverty includes:
- nightly outreach, which meets women on the streets and offers food, warm clothing and first aid;
- specialist support and advocacy to tackle life-controlling issues – from helping women manage energy bills to liaising with housing services to prevent homelessness.
In response to the rising cost of living we’ve put extra support in place over the last six months: we’ve developed a support ‘checklist’ so women are aware of the help that’s available across Bristol, and we continue to give out care packages containing blankets and warm clothing.
