One Step Bury - Community Hub

Aim

Create a Community Hub that welcomes people into a warm space where food, drinks and support is offered, and friendships are made.

Who are we?

Hi!

We are One Step Bury :)

We offer a holistic, empowerment- based & person-centered approach to physical & mental health well-being services, while welcoming individuals to be part of a supportive community. To do this we use Vibe Personal Training Studios, a small local gym in Bury to deliver FREE groups to both Men & Women. We hope to make our services completely inclusive to all ages (0-100) by creating our Community Hub. Service users are currently given the option to take part in days out, boxing, self-defence classes, gym, zumba, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, art therapy, self-help courses, training, workshops, chill-out sessions & more, all including hot drinks, biscuits & supportive chats. Each session is focused on how best to equip each person with resilience and practice skills to improve & look after their mental health & well-being within our sessions, at home & in their day to day lives.

Community impact

One Step Community Hub is a new project that we hope your donations will support. This will be used as a ‘Warm Space’ for people to use & will allow us to expand on our opening times & all of our current services, making our support more accessible – having access to kitchen facilities to have food & drink on a donation basis, or free if they cannot afford it. We will have information surrounding various circumstances on support that people can access locally & within our services, through individual & group support to raise awareness, creating a strong support system. Our Community Hub will be of support to small local businesses & entrepreneurs, while creating the opportunity for people, including our service users, to be able to do more things under the One Step banner, such as being able to build on & offer their skills, services & or passions to the public with our support, with training provided & or funded by us. As well as collaborating with other local organisations, charities & community groups by allowing them to use the space to support & run their projects at a lower rate than other places, building up stronger connections within our communities & allowing service users to gain immediate access to as many free, local groups as possible. Above all, we will be able to provide a loving, caring & supportive environment for people to be a part of - we know just how much of an impact that this has on people's lives. We are sure that this is just the start of many things that we will develop on & be able to offer as it builds up.

Why are we crowdfunding?

As we are a CIC (Community Interest Company) we rely on funding & donations to offer our much needed services & run projects within them. 

To create our Community Hub, alongside needing funds to include refurbishment, redecoration, running costs, electric, heating, refreshments, materials etc - our rent will go up PCM.

With the Cost Of Living Crisis, we know how important it is (now more than ever) for people to have a warm space to come to where they can fill not only their bellies up, but their hearts, with community support & love. 

We need your support to help us develop this - as heating alone costs between £100-200 a month. Let's do it together - be part of creating an amazing initiative which will help members of our local community!

How we’ll spend the money raised

Your kind donations will go towards funding the creation & development of our Community Hub, as well as running the groups, services & projects within it.

For every £1 that is donated, Co-op will very kindly match this up to £250. For example, if you donate £10, the Co-op will add another £10.

Please support us in creating a safe & welcoming space located in the centre of Bury. Just £1 will make a massive difference to those who we will reach. We can't do it without you!
